{"id":1199,"date":"2020-05-16T18:52:56","date_gmt":"2020-05-16T18:52:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/albert-totchilovski.com\/?p=1199"},"modified":"2024-04-09T10:47:37","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T10:47:37","slug":"nearly-50-surrogate-babies-crammed-into-ukraine-hotel-amid-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/albert-totchilovski.com\/ru\/nearly-50-surrogate-babies-crammed-into-ukraine-hotel-amid-coronavirus\/","title":{"rendered":"Nearly 50 surrogate babies crammed into Ukraine hotel amid coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Nearly 50 surrogate babies from several countries \u2014 including the US \u2014 are crammed into a dormitory at a Ukraine hotel and cannot be picked up by their families during the coronavirus lockdown, troubling new video shows.<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Staff at the BioTexCom Center for Human Reproduction in the capital city of Kiev are caring for some 46 crying newborns as the country has completely closed its borders due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Infants staying there are from the US, the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, China, Mexico and other countries, according to the video, apparently made to ease parents\u2019 concerns, and posted by the clinic on April 30.<\/p>\n<p>A female voice narrating the video says, \u201cWe show babies to the parents online and our managers arrange calls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is necessary for us to inform parents about how much their babies eat, how they sleep and what their weight is,\u201d the video continues. \u201cIt is heartbreaking to see how parents miss their little ones. We wish they were allowed to pick up their children soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An administrator who identifies herself as Marina says that the infants are cared for 24 hours a day in a baby room, and \u201cevery day [caretakers] spend some time with the children in the open air and bathe them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The babies are also checked by doctors, according to the video.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo do not worry, your babies\u2019 health is in good hands,\u201d the narrator says.<\/p>\n<p>However, the clip has alarmed the human rights ombudsman for the Ukrainian parliament, Liudmila Denisova, the Daily Mail reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA video was spread on social media and shared via a website of one of Kiev clinics,\u201d Denisova told the outlet. \u201cIt showed 46 babies who are currently in one of the Kiev hotels. All these babies were born by surrogate mothers for citizens of various foreign states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis video confirms that the situation with the provision of surrogacy services by this clinic is mass and systemic, and surrogacy technologies are advertised and presented as \u2018high quality goods,\u2019\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The center\u2019s website states that \u201cIt\u2019s not a secret that surrogacy programs are banned almost everywhere in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEgg donation is allowed only in a few countries but quite often these programs offer not very favorable conditions (for patients, as well as for donors),\u201d it says. \u201cIn Ukraine, however, all these programs are absolutely legal.
